Our Mission
Rescues R Super is a storytelling-driven community platform and social impact project created to support animal rescue organizations through greater visibility, edutainment-style education, and mission-aligned community partnerships. Our goal is simple: help more rescue pets find great homes—and help the organizations doing the work get the recognition and support they deserve.
We’re launching in the SF Bay Area and building a pet-friendly community that includes rescues, adopters, fosters, volunteers, and supportive business partners.
Why This Exists
I’ve always loved animals, and my early advocacy interests were focused on wildlife and environmental causes. But after rescuing a feral mama cat and her kittens, I saw firsthand how complex rescue work can be—logistically, emotionally, and financially.
That experience introduced me to the people and organizations making second chances possible every day. Some are volunteer-run groups, some are regional leaders, and some are well-known institutions. Regardless of size, rescues share one truth: the work never stops, and support is always needed.
Rescues R Super was created to strengthen that support system by making rescue stories easier to discover, share, and rally around—while helping the public feel more confident about adoption, fostering, and choosing the right pet.
How Rescues R Super Helps
Rescues R Super focuses on three things:
1) Visibility and Amplification
We feature rescue organizations, spotlight adoptable pets, and share rescue initiatives through stories, updates, and community spotlights—helping more people discover and support rescue work.
2) Outreach That is Fun and Supports Adoption Success
We publish practical, approachable content to help people choose a great match, set realistic expectations, and build strong lifelong bonds. The goal isn’t just adoption—it’s adoption success.
3) Pet-Friendly Community Partnerships
We highlight pet-friendly businesses and community partners who support rescue efforts and help create more welcoming spaces for pet owners and their animals. Rescue organizations participate at no cost.
About the Creator (and the Heart Behind It)
This project is the pet project (pun intended) of Kamala and Lovie.
Lovie is one of many “super rescues” who inspired this platform—and a proud graduate of Tony La Russa’s Animal Rescue Foundation, formerly ARF, now Joybound.
Kamala is a longtime pet owner, animal lover, and storyteller with a background in journalism and documentary filmmaking. She is a USC Cinema-TV graduate, an award-winning documentary filmmaker, and a member of the Producers Guild of America. Over the past 20 years, she has worked with nonprofits and businesses throughout the SF Bay Area creating written and video content that supports outreach, education, and community engagement.
A Note on Being Mission-Driven (Not a Nonprofit)
People often ask if Rescues R Super is a nonprofit. While we are deeply mission-driven, we are not currently structured as a nonprofit so the platform can remain flexible, move quickly, and stay sustainable as it grows. We deeply respect the work that nonprofits do and exist to amplify their efforts—not replace them.
The Bigger Vision
Rescues R Super is being built as more than a directory or blog—it’s the beginning of a story-driven world. Over time, we plan to expand beyond articles into creative visual and interactive storytelling experiences that make learning, sharing, and giving back more engaging—including future “play-to-give” community campaigns that help drive support to rescue organizations.
Because rescue pets aren’t “less than.” They’re resilient, quirky, unforgettable—and often the very best members of the family.
